277

That is how many bails we made today. Slow and steady, didn't miss one knot. I think all bailers ever at the ranch have been older than me. We used to have an Oliver with dual wheels. This New Holland hot rod is tried and true, I like it. It is a triple plunger. Trust me I counted all three.

Smokin mower

While I am beyond enamored with my wifes beautythis title is a description of her mowing skills, she burns it up. I had to stop her the other day and tell her to slow down, she said does it look bad choppy or uneven, I said no but you are just going too fast nobody else hammers that hard at it.  And to think 2 weeks ago she jumped off this rig saying it was to tough to run.....

Good employees

This fella can work very hard. His dedication is unmatched. He cleaned most of 23 planter boxes. You should see his seal when collecting eggs. I think he may be showing some plumber traits in this photo.

Tornado....

We had a spot of weather today, the bad stuff went north or south. Reminded me of the tornado paths I saw in GA. This is just north of Atlanta, one shot is what it shouldering look like the other is the path. There was this path north of Atlanta about .25 miles wide, the other was south of Atlanta and a bit more narrow. We need to keep praying for the residents.

Keep things straight

At the farm we try to avoid soil compaction.  In this photo we strive for and try to measure it. (A recent shot from my trip to Florida for ISU )

Flying out!

This is from right next to our house on May 13 in the morning, this was planted on May 4. It looks great and you could row it by the evening, shows what a little heat like we had the last few days can do.

Time for beans

Switching to beans on May 9. Finished corn on May 6, took 5 days to plant all the corn.

Dodge the rain

Fortunately the rain went north. We went west, then east, then west, then east, then west, then east, then west......etc....

Substitute buddy

This was my late night buddy the other day.

The buddy seat

A very important part of the tractor is the buddy seat. It holds valuable equipment as shown here, much needed especially after a big lunch. The kids are.developing thicker skulls from head bumps on the window in rough spots.

Planting 2011

A few shots of corn planting.  The soil worked up great. A broken marker cylinder did not slow us down as the auto steer saved the day.

Kickin it!

Oh this farm life is tough as Owen shows while riding in the tractor preparing our first field of the season. I didn't know a buddy seat could be this comfy.
